1971 Uniflite 28 Uniflite began construction of boats around 1958. A successful contractor for the US Navy the company built a great reputation on 1500 boats up to 52 feet for use in the Vietnam Theater. The express cruisers and sedan boats became a staple offering. This boat has the classic Uniflite profile with an open cockpit to the helm station and companion way. Originally equipped with twin engines the previous owner repowered with the Cummins diesel engine. The hours are not known, but the current owner feels there are less than 200 hours on the engine. He purchased the boat with a plan to hand line for fish in Alaska but life changes dictated a different direction. The boat has the Spartan feel of a fishing boat intended to be handled by one person, yet it is easy to see with a practiced eye the potential for a great family cruiser. The cockpit cover was built by the current owner and there are rails on the original top (just forward) with rails for storage of the dinghy. The engine compartment is spacious and every system is easily accessed. The helm station is sparse and functional. Moving into the forward cabin a galley is to starboard and the large backsplash was added. A stove is included (not shown). A pilot berth was added forward of the head to accommodate the grandkids.
