What characterizes a megayacht?

Undoubtedly the size of a large boat allows designers to exploit their imagination, creating lines and harmonies of great elegance, exciting forms, a gratifying beauty to behold.

In addition, the surfaces and volumes can accommodate comfortable, pleasant spaces for friendly gatherings with guests, but also sweeping views of the distant horizon.

Then, what about the technology? The dashboard must include in accessible and ergonomic positions for all the systems of navigation and control of the boat. Efficient and fully reliable propulsion systems are a must and, above all, economical and ecological engines. The entertainment onboard has to surround with sounds and images of the most recent developments in multimedia.

Do not forget safety! The boat should allow full control under all operating conditions, visibility and precise maneuvering in ports, ease of access and inspection to the technical areas, appropriate positioning of the accessories on deck for mooring and anchoring, all for the benefit of the Skipper.

Trendy style, refined elegance … in a word “Absolute”: lines developed from the Absolute Design Center are innovative and surprising, evolving every nautical season. The evolution of the family feeling, which started with the 72FLY in September 2012, continues in the new 45 FLY. Surprisingly, the compactness of the 45FLY – which gives dynamism and sportiness to this yacht –emphasizes the style of Absolute born to larger units: the air vents integrated into the hull, the lateral character line on the hull side, the windows of under deck cabins (not only aesthetic, but rather very functional for brightness and panoramic views), the aft window that joins with the molding of the access door to the aft cabin, … so, all these stylish features are hallmarks of imposing and prestigious yachts, just like our little megayacht 45FLY!

But we must not stop with the exteriors: moving from the teak deck of the cockpit to the interior oak wood floor, you can appreciate the magnitude of the sliding door: its openness directly connects the interior living room and the galley with the outdoor cockpit sofa for maximum conviviality of everyone on board. All the interior furniture, in Canaletto walnut, with inserts in solid wood and other precious materials, are enhanced by two leather sofas in the living room, by the Corian used on the galley tops and in the toilets, by the ceramic sinks, by the finishing in mirrored stainless steel, by the console in carbon fiber: therefore, wherever you look you will see only natural, exclusive and first choice materials.

Comfort in the lower deck accommodations: how wrong he who thought it was possible only big boats have a full beam cabin in the amidships, with private toilet and separate shower, walk-in closet, and without any compromise for the guests a double cabin in the bow, with private bath, separate shower and two closets too. If we consider the height of the ceilings, the linearity of the floor, the precision of the construction, the quality of the decoration materials and the panoramic view of both cabins (thanks to the largest windows of the class), then you have to admit that there is a world-class livability for owner and guests aboard the Absolute 45FLY, which is unrivaled.

Sweeping views of the seas: not only both cabins on the lower deck offer unlimited views of the open seas, but also – and perhaps above all – the living area in the main deck is all surrounded by 360 degrees of glass, to live every moment of the endless life at sea, the freedom of navigation, the distance from any obstacle. For the moments of privacy, adjustable opening and pleated shades and awnings, keep unwanted looks and sunlight away.

Ergonomics and navigation systems: in the steering position, the adjustable seat with armrests moves back in a heartbeat to facilitate movements of the Skipper. The helm has immediate usability due to a perfect view on all sides and at each pace, to the face of electronic screens and dials, to rationality in the layout of the main controls (engines / helm) and to accessories (signaling, anchor, wipers, lights, …). Sitting or standing at the helm, having everything under control and at your immediate service, the safety feeling is confirmed by the prompt and accurate response of the hull, just like being in command of a large vessel.

Vessel operation, economy and environmental impact: navigate requires respect, for other sailors, for the landscape and especially for the marine environment. There is no reason to overindulge with disturbing elements when the modern IPS technology allows to drastically reduce emissions and increase fuel economy. If we also consider perception of great comfort on board you get the maximum result: no vibrations, smooth drive at all speeds, top-level quietness are other benefits in addition to the possibility of planning the cruise, with the ability to freely decide the cruising speed according to needs or to weather conditions – without impacting fuel consumption. In fact, Absolute is a pioneer in implementing hulls optimized for the IPS system since the inception of the Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. The experience gained over the years today allows Absolute 45 FLY having a “liter per mile” and “gallons per mile” concumtion which remains constant at cruising speeds. Practically, regardless of the effective speed chosen, the total fuel consumption depends only on the distance covered and not on the time taken to complete the trip! This is almost exclusively an Absolute feature, impossible to match with shaft line transmissions or with hulls not optimized for the IPS system. Independent international observers have also verified that on equal speed and size of the boat, Absolute boats with IPS system consume 20% -30% less than competitors equipped with stright shaft line propulsion.

The “ease” refers to the first approach, where both the beginner and the expert become equally comfortable to communicate with the boat and guide it in narrow port passages or anywhere offshore. But the “full control” goes much further, and it means that every owner of the Absolute 45 FLY, whether they have been operating boats for years, or they are facing the marine world for the first time, can always count on a boat that responds with precision and reliability to steering input as well as in a very intuitive way through the “joystick” of the IPS: and this is true for each pace and in any operating condition.

The third aft cabin: Finally, as for every mega yacht worthy of its name, even in the Absolute 45 FLY, through a watertight door directly from the aft deck, you enter a fully equipped cabin. The Canaletto walnut finish is the same of the interiors, as well as the oak floor. The ceiling is at maximum height. The toilet is separate, with glass sink and Corian cupboard. The bed is of normal size. A large window with a curtain for privacy and a porthole for ventilation offer comfort and a wide view. Call this a “crew cabin” would be limiting and, indeed, this position will be the most sought after destination for those who love the on-board comfort and the complete privacy: a guest, a family member, a friend of passage, and even the owner can choose this solution for their accommodation, and of course the crew on board.

This is a brief analysis and an invitation for an in-person visit. Obviously all this cannot prove that the Absolute 45 FLY is truly a megayacht as its geometric size places it just over 14 meters in length: however, the true greatness of this boat, its style, its class … in a word, its nature goes far beyond a mere length category, and place it at the top of yachting quality and prestige.
