Gunfleet 74

Designer Tony Castro has created a spectacular yacht in the new Gunfleet 74. The sleek outboard profile and powerful hull lines will ensure head-turning attention and real pride of ownership. In all, she is a simply stunning cruising yacht with powerful performance, variable draft and class-leading accommodation, and offers more than any other yacht in this size range.

Setting a new benchmark in this size range
The Gunfleet 74 offers an unbeatable range of features usually only found on much larger yachts, not surprising given the amount of experience behind this project. Like her smaller sisters, the Gunfleet 74 features an anchorage friendly, low centre of gravity, shoal draft, bulb keel with a centreboard and twin rudders. Hence this 74 footer draws just 2.06 metres ‘board up’ but has a sailing draft of 4.11 metres.

Designed for performance
The 74’s performance orientated sail plan is complemented by a choice of cutter gear or a solent jib with hydraulic furling on both headstays for ease of handling. The standard rig is a fully battened mainsail, but in-mast furling or in-boom furling are also available.

Separate cockpits for guests and crew
On deck, the 74 is designed for ease of operation by professional crew, as well as providing generous relaxing areas for guests. Sailing operations all take place in the separate aft cockpit, featuring twin ‘Flightdeck’ pedestals – well out of the way of guests. The exceptionally large, forward cockpit provides generous seating and twin cockpit tables, each incorporating refrigerated drinks coolers. This is a boat for serious alfresco relaxation and guests will enjoy the flush aft deck, which is the perfect place for sunbathing, before taking to the water via the hydraulic stern platform.

Semi custom – means choice not compromise
Of course, the Gunfleet 74 is a semi-custom build with a wide choice of interior finishes and layouts to cater for any owner’s specific requirements. The standard arrangement provides no less than four en-suite cabins for owner and guests. There is excellent separation from the crew, as the crew cabin is located forward of the galley and features its own crew mess and en-suite heads. The fully equipped professional galley is closed off from the saloon so the chef can work undisturbed. Any professional chef will be happy with the generous counter space, high- specification domestic appliances and easily accessible fridge and freezers. There is a choice of tender options - stern tender garage, stern davits or a tender chocked on the foredeck. Class-leading stowage for gear and ‘toys’ is provided by the huge full-width lazarette and the generous forward sail locker.

A luxurious interior with stunning outboard views
The full-beam owner’s cabin is a masterpiece with queen-size centerline berth, office area and settee, whilst the saloon features a dining area comfortably seating 8 to 10 guests with an abundance of natural light. All cabins feature spectacular outboard views.
