The Northwind 12 Meter Hercules Patrol Boat is designed for search and rescue operations in coastal waters. It requires a crew of two and will accommodate a crew of four. It will cruise at 20 knots at 2200RPM. It is not rated to carry passengers for hire.

The boat is equipped with two Volvo Penta D9-575 in line six cylinder diesel engines.

There is a ZF 305-2 0.93:1 gearbox between each engine and its associated jet.

The two Hamilton HJ292 jets are mounted inboard at the stern.

The Cummins Onan 11MDKBN diesel generator set, which has its own water tight compartment, supplies 11 KW of 220VAC 50 Hz power for the air conditioners, battery chargers, dewatering pump outlet, outlets in the cuddy, house, and cockpit, and the ultrasonic antifouling system.
