Kha Shing Overseas 40 Acmy

Kha Shing Enterprises Co. Ltd., of Taiwan has been building and exporting motor yachts since 1977 and has since grown to be a highly acclaimed quality builder of large luxury yachts for the world market. SHIKARA was manufactured in April 1988 and imported into North America in June of that year. She has primarily been operated on Lake Ontario and in freshwater in New Brunswick.

SHIKARA sleeps 4 very comfortably but can easily accommodate sleeping for up to 8; headroom is 6’ 3” plus, throughout. The forward private stateroom has a double berth to port with companion seat to starboard; hanging lockers and sink with vanity are also located to starboard. On the port side is an enclosed head with electrically operated marine toilet and a shower.

Aft of the forward stateroom is a dinette to port with table and two fixed bench seats - reupholstered in beige leatherette in 2012. Opposite is the galley equipped with a Wedgewood 4-burner LPG stove and oven, a household sized 12/110 volt refrigerator with a separate freezer section, double stainless sinks with hot and cold pressure water and ample storage space in galley.

Three steps up from the dinette/galley lead to the main salon which houses the lower helm station to starboard. On the port side is an entertainment center with Clarion AM/FM/CD radio and stereo (2008) and a Citizen color TV/VCR. In the main salon there is one tub chair and a sofa located aft to port; the sofa pulls out to a double berth. The upholstered furniture in the salon is in ice-blue fabric. The stairway with railing up to the aft deck is aft to starboard and the companionway down to the aft stateroom is amidships.

The aft stateroom is bright and roomy with opening ports on three sides above bureaus. Teak cabinetry with mirrors enhances the sense of space. There is a wide centerline queen sized bunk; a large hanging locker is located forward to starboard and to the port side is the head equipped with a sink, hot and cold water and a manually operated marine toilet aside a separate tub/shower stall. Also attached to the port side of the spacious aft stateroom is a vanity with a swing-out seat.

The interior of SHIKARA is finished to a very high standard typical of this builder, with teak veneer bulkheads, solid teak trim and joinery, teak and holly soles insulated from engine noise and doors lockers and drawers both paneled and louvered doors throughout the yacht. Complementary mini-blinds and fitted white windshield covers provide privacy in the main salon. A sliding door next to the helm station provides entry into the main salon, in addition to entry from the aft deck.

SHIKARA is equipped with 200 US gallon fresh water capacity in tanks located aft, and a 50 US gallon holding tank below deck. Hot and cold pressure water is available at both heads, including showers and also in the galley. Hot water is provided by a 110-volt AC water heater (2008) or via heat exchangers on the engines. An ESPAR diesel furnace provides regulated cabin heating.
