Custom Islander Ketch - New arrival

Launched in 1979, Fairwind was custom built on a finished hull from Islander Yachts by her first owner over a five year period. Earl Erick was a talented engineer and draftsman who converted the original sloop design to a custom traditionally styled ketch and finished her with great attention to every detail. His original blueprints remain aboard the boat, and the official credit to him as co-builder listed on the USCG documentation certificate is a testament to the professional standard of his work.

With her thick fiberglass hull and full keel Fairwind is a solid stable vessel with blue water capability, and a variable sail plan easily managed by the solo sailor. Dry and safe, with an enclosed cockpit and high teak comings, and comfortable below deck accommodations with beautiful joinery and beamings, Fairwind is a unique vessel with a lot of soul. She is being offered for sale by her second owner, who has maintained her with love and respect since 2008.

Enter through teak doors and the companionway stair and the galley is to port, with propane stove/oven, sink, counter and storage. Chests of drawers, lockers, hutches and outboard storage are plentiful throughout, and there is a charcoal/solid fuel heater with vent at the forward bulkhead of the salon. Forward from the salon the enclosed head compartment is to port comprising a manual head, teak grate, and vanity with mirror and washbasin, and there is a wet locker across to starboard. The v-berth is spacious, with outboard storage plus a chest of drawers and hanging area.
