Elco 325 Crusette - New arrival

Alice Gray is a 1937 Elco Cruisette. She's 32' long and her hull # is 3014. Elco ( the "Electric Launch Company")was founded in 1892. The family-owned business built electric motor launches for the purpose of giving rides at the 1892 Chicago Worlds Fair.  After the initial success with the fair, the company permanently set up shop in Bayonne, NJ, just outside of New York City where they continued to manufacture boats.

The Alice Gray was on exhibit for the Elco company on the floor of the 1937 New York Boat Show. She had just been built for her first owner who resided in New York.

In 1960, a new engine was installed at Wayne's Marine in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. That engine, (which is still in the boat) was one of the last B&W Lathrop engines ever built. 

In 1978, a Portland doctor bought her and the next year found her on Sebago Lake at what is now Richardson Marina. Her current owner bought her in 1990 and was paid by the owner of a prestigious lodge on Sebago Lake to take the guests out on the lake for "cocktail cruises".  Alice Gray has had some major hull work done and her exterior cabin restored by a local boat builder/craftsman.She presently is moored in Tapely Cove among the Dingley Islands on Sebago Lake. 

Alice Gray is an excellent candidate for an owner or boat builder to complete her restoration. She is stored on the shore of the lake in a wooden barn along with almost all of her original parts. There is a recent survey available to interested parties. It is not uncommon to see these vintage yachts fully restored selling for $90,000.00
