HUMMINGBIRD is a traditional yacht based on the well known Chesapeake Bay Skipjack design.   HUMMINGBIRD was built in 1995 by the well respected Ed Cutts of Cutts and Case according to the Ed Cutts construction method, using Kevlar fiber cord inserted into the hull structure in order to reduce the use of metal fasteners and to maximize strength.  HUMMINGBIRD's current owner has a long record as an experienced and meticulous yacht owner who has lavished love and attention on his yacht over the years. 

HUMMINGBIRD can be well recommended as a fine daysailer and coastal cruising yacht that will prove especially handy in shoal waters.    We expect a prospective purchaser to find HUMMINGBIRD in very nice condition.

The Cutts method of construction as devised by the designer, Ed Cutts. HUMMINGBIRD is of composite construction, with juniper, Kevlar, epoxy, oak, and mahogany. Double-planked juniper with transverse Kevlar "frames" between. (An article explaining the Cutts method is available upon request.) She is fitted with fir keel, chine logs, and sheer clamps; mahogany ring frames; and 3,055-lb. exterior lead ballast secured with Kevlar cord and epoxy keel bolts. Deckhouse is Honduras mahogany with cypress tongue-and-groove top covered with polypropylene and epoxy. Tiller steering to skeg-hung rudder. White topsides with black boottop, gold cove stripe, red bottom, and off-white deck.
