Monk/Grandy Boat Co. Classic Motoryacht

Edwin Monk, Sr. designed 75' classic motor yacht built in the Grandy Boat Co. shipyard in 1946 on Lake Union, Seattle.  Construction is of carvel planked Port Orford cedar planks below the waterline and Douglas fir above fastened to bent oak frames with galvanized boat nails and bolts. Decks are ¾" teak over two layers of marine ply. She is powered by twin 225hp Detroit 6-71's in a walk-in engine room, and stabilized with dual sets of Vosper Mini-Fins. AC power is provided by a Northern Lights generator and an Onan 6KW cruising generator. Interior accommodations boasts three air conditioned staterooms for owners and guests, each with adjoining head and shower. There are two crew cabins forward for four, with a head & stall shower. Spacious on deck galley, with abundant counter and storage area, has an electric stove, double ovens, full size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, trash compactor, microwave and double cast iron sinks. She was custom built for a prominent yachtsman and meticulously maintained by her present owners. "Chula Mia" will indulge the senses and replenish the spirit. Truly a Must See Classic!

Aft of the chain locker in the forepeak is Crew cabin with a tiled shower with stainless floor and drain. There is a sink to port, an electric marine toilet to starboard and opening port lights P&S. Aft of the privacy door are two single crew berths P&S with shelves outboard, storage below and two more opening port lights.

Down three steps to an additional Crew cabin. This cabin also has two single berths with shelves outboard and storage below. There are lockers P&S, a hanging locker to port, a mirrored bulkhead, two opening ports, an overhead hatch leading to the foredeck, and access to the engine room.

Up three steps from the forward crew area to the Galley. The spacious galley has curved windows all around, a circular dinette with formica top table to starboard and sink with single lever faucet and trash compactor to port. The refrigerator/freezer, ovens, cook-top with built-in microwave are aft. There is an overhead hatch on center.  

Up four steps to starboard from the galley is the Wheelhouse forward on the main deck. The wheelhouse has a teak and stainless helm wheel on center, with Aer-O-Trol remote controls, two air horns and a remote search light. There is a teak sole and side deck access doors P&S. There is a double bench seat aft.

Continuing aft through a louvered door to the Salon. There are pantry lockers adjacent. There is a marble working fireplace on the forward bulkhead and 24K gold leaf overhead headliner, with an entertainment center and book shelf to port. The entertainment center has a Panasonic Blue Jay DVD, a Toshiba VCR, Kenwood KR-V8070 receiver, Sony portable stereo and a Sharp color 26” TV.

There is a sleeper sofa to port with teak end tables, two upholstered chairs with ottoman opposite, a teak table with lamp between and a drop leaf teak cocktail table. Mini blinds cover the windows and there is carpeting throughout and a built in AC heater.

Continuing aft to the covered Aft Deck which has large lockers P&S, a bench seat with storage below, four chairs, two cocktail tables and a teak sole. There is a stainless steel ladder up to the bridge deck. Down two steps P&S to the aft deck with lazarette.

From the galley aft down on the starboard side leads to Owner and Guest cabins. There is a second access door to the engine room. The guest cabin to port has a thwartship single berth and a stall shower aft with stainless floor and drain. Head is inboard with sink, electric toilet, opening port light, and a pocket door. Next Guest cabin to port has two twin berths with chest of drawers between, mirrored bulkhead and large hanging locker. The head is outboard with a tiled shower, electric marine toilet, sink built into formica counter and an opening port light.

There is a storage locker to starboard with shelf and two opening port lights. Continuing aft to Master cabin with queen size berth to starboard and a twin berth to port and large walk-in hanging locker. Forward bulkhead is mirrored, and there is a chest of drawers and an upholstered chair. The head has a stall shower with glass door, sink built into Formica counter with ornate brass faucets, electric marine toilet and opening port light. Five steps up to aft deck.
