Dale Nelson 38

These superbly conceived and built semi-displacement cruiser need little introduction - this 2000-vintage 38 is the rarer aft cockpit version, running on twin Yanmar 420s, and we can vouch for their top-notch sea-keeping!

These motor-yachts are, quite simply, superb.

They are massively built, with their slender sections muscling the sea aside, whilst remaining comfortable at speed through sharp seas thanks to her TT heritage.

The sharp bow and stem cleaves through the water, with her rounded bilges displacing, rather than slamming, their way ahead. “An Siorrac” is fitted with the large Yanmar option to leave a top-out speed of around 27 knots, with comfortable twenties cruise being a really useful passage-making tool.

Her cabin is fully-trimmed out in Dale’s beautiful light oak joinery, with blond carpets and worktops keeping the interior light and fresh. Her wheel house has the two facing bench seats in the aft area, with a pair of helm/navigators seats at the main console, and solid teak doors leading out aft into the protected aft cockpit. The forward cabin has an ensuite heads/shower, and there is a cosy dining area opposite the linear galley. It is a well-tried and tested layout – staying practical, classic and very liveable with.
