Brokers comments:

Murray Cormack Associates of Argyll designed the round-bilged semi-displacement Talisman 49 in 1974. The hull was variously used as a commercial base for pilot and patrol craft, with fine motor yacht versions also being fitted out – in this case by Halmatic Ltd. of Vosper Thornycraft, Portsmouth.

The success of the Talisman hull-form was translated into both larger and smaller derivatives with the capacity to operate at speed in all weather applications.

‘RHINO’ is thus a massively constructed ( the original plans are photocopied and lovingly laminated in her chart drawer ) and highly-capable, true semi-displacement motor yacht, crafted at a time when solid timber was still available for the attentions of highly-skilled shipwrights. She was overseen by a Lloyds surveyor at original build, and benefits from a 2000 refit at Fairline Restorations ( including a new 14mm hand-picked teak deck ), and a re-spray in Flag Blue Awlgrip in 2004. In 2012, her engines were broken to allow a major overhaul on top of general servicing to include new raw water pumps, injector removal and checks, intercooler and turbo strips and re-furbs, with all seacocks serviced or replaced as necessary.

Thus her Iveco engines and generator run sweetly on the button, and her heavyweight pedigree should delight any future owner looked for a seriously capable sea-boat with generous storage space and remarkable good volume for such a fine sea-keeper.

She is a handsome yacht in the water, with teak badging rails, commercial D-section fendering and prominent ribs giving her a purposeful air of authority. Her teak deck is substantial, giving good grip underfoot and excellent insulation properties, and below decks she has a proper yacht interior whilst losing none of the excellent machinery access of her commercial sisters.

A very rare opportunity.
