The Topcat is one of the latest catamaran designs. It is safe, sporty, robust, easy to assemble without any tools and can be car-topped and rigged by one person. The hulls are constructed from hand-laminated fiberglass. The skeg is reinforced. There are high-impact deck and hull corners and moulded beam supports. Watertight storage compartments are accessible through inspection covers. The Topcat does not need a daggerboard. The rig consists of a rotating two-part mast resting on a Teflon coated ball joint, and an internal main halyard. There is terminal forestay adjustment and simple airfoil adjustment on the boomless mainsail (simple mainsail connector on masthead). Standing rigging is made from V4A stainless steel and hammerhead type quick couplings. Running rigging is made from polyester. It is possible to convert the Topcat to the Topcat Formel2 with cleverly designed fittings, and without the aid of any tools. The sails are manufactured from original American high-strength Polacron. The strong one-piece extruded fiberglass battens have PVC endcaps. Helmsman and crew can achieve improved speed by fitting the 33 square-foot jib of the Formel2. The rudder blades are extruded from indestructible aluminum into a hydrodynamic profile, with a 3-point safety release. Rudder bracings are made from glass-reinforced thermoplastic. The patented Topcat surf rudders kick up automatically when touching the bottom without loosing steering ability. Everything on the Topcat has been designed for your absolute safety. The Topcat is unsinkable. The strong, watertight mast floats and prevents the boat from turning upside down. It will rest on its side and can be righted by one person weighing less than 130 lbs. The newly developed surf rudder kicks up automatically the moment it touches shallow ground. Topcat is the only catamaran in the world that has complete steering ability even when the rudder blades are in the up position. All regatta fittings come as standard equipment.
