Gibbs Gas Engine Co. U S Navy Yard Tug

USS Mazapeta was launched in 1943 and served in the U S Navy throughout World War II, and beyond. She was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. She is all original and, until her recent restoration began, she was active on San Francisco Bay. There is more information and other photos on the Internet. Just put "Mazapeta" in your search window.

Everything is original. Nothing has been modified. The engine room is a walk through 1940s vintage naval technology museum, and everything works. At a recent in-water survey, the surveyor pronounced Mazapeta to be in the best condition of any old tug he has seen, and he is a former tugboat captain.

Mazapeta could be restored, and would make a fine museum ship or working tug, or she could be converted to a unique, spacious live aboard or cruiser.

If you like the idea of owning a fine piece of naval history, then Mazapeta is just for you.
