Maxim 38 Owners Version

Stingo has been the much loved home of the only owner since she was launched in May 2007. She has been fitted out for extended blue water cruising and is almost completely self-sufficient: she has solar panels, a wind generator, a water maker in addition to a very efficient rain catcher. There is also an automatic washing machine aboard. All this makes it unnecessary to stay in marinas.

This is the last Maxim that was built in South African (May 2007 hull no 53) before the factory closed down. It has never been chartered. The owner has been live aboard since Decemeber 2007 and sailed it from Durban to the Caribbean, mostly single handed (so she is rigged for short handed sailing). She has been cruising slowly in the Caribbean since 2010. Because the owner has sailed mostly single handed, he nearly always had the 2nd reef in so she has never been sailed over-canvassed. She has not experienced a hurricane yet.
