Bluenose 23 - New arrival
The Bluenose 23 was originally created as a one-design class for the Armdale Yacht Club in Halifax, NS. A group of club members approached William J Roué, the designer of the Grand Banks fishing schooner Bluenose (the yacht featured on the Canadian dime and the yacht that won every race she entered) to design a boat for racing at Armdale Yacht Club. The original boats were built of wood; McVay Fiberglass Yachts of Mahone Bay, NS made the subsequent yachts of fiberglass and added a small enclosed cabin. Herring Cove Marine Company, just outside of Halifax, NS is currently manufacturing the Bluenose 23, also of fiberglass and has modified the keel weight distribution (not shape) over the original McVay Yachts boats. Herring Cove Marine, in addition to building a new Bluenose 23, will refurbish older Bluenose boats. The Bluenose 23 is still actively raced in Halifax, NS and Mahone Bay areas. The Chester Race Week, held every year in mid-August in Chester, NS was host to 22 Bluenose 23 sailboats in 2014. 1989 Wiscot road trailer 1990 Mercury 4hp long shaft motor 2009 North Dacron Main, like new SA/Disp: 21.66 All new Harken deck gear
