Valiant 42 - Price Reduction!

Major Price reduction – the owner wants his pristine, very clean, very well maintained, lightly used Valiant 42 sold. Recent family additions have re-arranged priorities and he (reluctantly) realizes this boat needs an owner who can give her the adventures she deserves.

Antoinette is a stunningly pristine Valiant Yacht commissioned by her current owner as a dream of someday sailing the oceans. She was bought new in 2002 and has been meticulously maintained by her only owner since her arrival at Spring Cove Marina in Solomons (50 miles south of Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay) after being shown at the Newport Boat Show that year. Realizing he would not go offshore for some time, and understanding how quickly electronics can become dated, she was outfitted for coastal cruising, leaving the few blue water necessities for later when she could be outfitted with the latest, more reliable, technology. She has proved herself quite capable of taking care of her owner as they have spent most of the time single handing, including returning him safely to the Chesapeake from New England a day after Hurricane Isabel went up the coast in 2003 (she performed better than her owner on that trip spending most of the time coming down the coast with full sails in 25 knots of wind in very confused seas – she was happy, he less so).

If you’re looking at Valiants, the original performance cruiser, you know their attributes: the boats are first and foremost safe, being completely overbuilt in almost every category. Safety also comes from a sensible layout that is easy to short hand or single hand. While the cockpit coaming boxes are high to keep out the water and keep crew in, all the controls are also in easy reach and laid out for convenience. When you do need to leave the cockpit, the decks are wide and the foredeck is dry.

As important as the cockpit and deck layouts are to a cruiser, below decks are in many regards equally important. The galley is well laid out and safe, with everything within easy reach. Handholds abound below (no long travels without anything to grab), and the berths and settees are comfortable and spacious. Her teak and holly sole is beautiful and traditional while her cherry bulkheads exude warmth and elegance.

Earlier we mentioned that Antoinette is pristine and clean. Prospective buyers have told us that she is the cleanest boat on the market. While the owner lived aboard for six years, he did not clutter the bulkheads with pictures and other decorations with the exception of the addition of a Chelsea ship’s clock and barometer. Antoinette looks factory new.

The Valiant 42 is the evolutionary successor to the Valiant 40, Bob Perry’s original performance cruiser, sharing the look and styling of its legendary predecessor. Over the years, the Valiant line of bluewater passage-makers has always reflected a commitment to product evolution and refinement. And of course, her lines are beautiful. Her owner is always amazed at how many people comment on what a pretty boat she is.

Antoinette is a beautiful, well maintained, clean blue-water boat, immediately ready for any coastal adventure or to go offshore with the addition of a few pieces of gear. Whether you’re crossing the Chesapeake, coastal cruising, or crossing oceans, Antoinette will get you there safely and in comfort and style.
