Aldous Yard 38' Essex Smack - Negotiable

This Sailing Smack was built in 1887 as a Victorian gentleman's yacht by the highly acclaimed builders, Aldous of Brightlingsea. A new 30HP Yanmar engine and stern gear is in place. Taylors stove and oven fitted. Gaff cutter rig. Beautiful in appearance and accomplished in performance. Theclassic hull shape has been coverted by many discerning racing enthusiasts during the last century for speed and aesthetics. Her full history is something of a mystery, but it is believed that she was built for leisure purposes. During the last few years she has been in the West country undergoing a complete re-build. She's now back in Brightlingsea, Essex, in the very yard where her original timbers were laid in 1887. The carvel hull has been thoroughly renovated and a completely new superstructure, decks, overlaid with teak, cockpit and spars have been added. It doesn't stop there --- down below she benefits from a completely new interior, displaying breath-taking traditional joinery and choice of high quality hard woods. Teak abounds! That just leaves the sails and equipment to add, which is why this beautiful classic yacht is offered at a highly competitive price of £49950 please contact Graham Knight at the Woolverstone Office of Clipper Marine.
