Gulfstar Sailmaster 62

"MARILYN" is a beautiful example of this famous Lazzara design. She is the last Sailmaster 62- the flagship of their line- built by Gulfstar between 1982 and 1985.

With her modern underbody and 52' waterline she is fast and comfortable. The fully encapsulated modified fin keel and full skeg hung rudder is the right combination for maximum performance and strength. She will easily do 200+ miles a day on passages with comfort and will reach over 10 knots on many an occasion. Speeds of 8.5 to 9.5 knots are the norm for Marilyn.

Marilyn is rigged with hydraulically operated in-mast furling and roller furling headsail. She is easy to handle with only two and is routinely single handed by her owner. Her huge cockpit will easily accommodate large groups, whether under sail or at anchor enjoying sundowners. Her deck has plenty of room to move around and handle lines or to just enjoy the water. With her four double cabins three heads and massive main saloon it is a pleasure to have full crew on board. The raised main saloon is open to the galley. This design is excellent for entertaining larger groups and is something not normally found on boats of this era and in this price range. "We have had up to 30 people on board for day sails and Marilyn accommodated everyone with ease", reports the owner.

Marilyn was purchased by her current owner in 2003. She then underwent a major upgrade, with much of her interior replaced. The main saloon and galley were gutted and replaced with high quality joiner work and appliances. The entire cabin sole was replaced with teak and holly and a new overhead was installed throughout. All of the systems and wiring were renewed and there are wire conduits throughout the vessel. The mast and standing rigging were replaced as well as the main sail. Marilyn is a clean boat and she is fully commissioned at this time.

Marilyn is a good choice and certainly worthy of your inspection if you are looking for a fast, comfortable cruising boat or a spacious home on the water. She has been home to her current owner and taken him cruising from Martha’s Vineyard and throughout the Caribbean for the last twelve years. She will outperform the typical 45' to 55' cruising boat in the same price range, while boasting accommodations that are on boats with a much higher price point. Marilyn is a special boat, fun to sail and to just be a part of.
