Amel Super Maramu Millennium Red Line - One of the Last Built

If there is, as they say, success in numbers, then the AMEL SUPER MARAMU is the most successful medium sized cruising sailboats of all time. This example is the 477th SUPER MARAMU delivered out of a production of some 479 SUPER MARAMU'S in total. No one else has ever built as many serious offshore cruising sailboats of this size and description. I remember going aboard this boat before it was delivered as it was undergoing qualification checks in the test pool at the shipyard. I felt a twinge of melancholy as I knew this was one of the last of the most popular medium sized voyaging sailboats ever built. The tooling for the new AMEL 54 was then already completed...

The original owner sailed her into the Mediterranean but was unfortunate, and a serious health challenge he developed demanded all his attention. He was obliged to sell the boat to the second and current owner. The first owner won his battle and is sailing once again.

The second owner loves voyaging and catching fish while passage making. He mainly enjoyed long passages on the boat and has completed three Atlantic Race/Rallies for Cruisers in this boat. While the original sails were in splendid condition, he replaced the working wardrobe in 2012 for some extra performance without sacrificing offshore durability and, he caught and ate a lot of fish! The boat has never been damaged. Nobody has smoked aboard. The boat is in sterling condition inside and out.

I recently had the pleasure to sail this boat almost 1400 miles non-stop with my wife, bringing it to Fort Lauderdale from St. Lucia. We enjoyed a trouble free passage with easy 200-mile days.

I have sold more SUPER MARAMU'S new and used combined than anyone else in the world. Not a boast, just a qualifier for the next paragraph.

This is one of the very nicest, cleanest and best kept AMEL SUPER MARAMU'S I have ever offered my brokerage clients. I believe it is the best SUPER MARAMU, all things considered, on today's market.

I am very familiar with this design in general and this example in particular and look forward to being helpful to you as you explore the possibility of owning this "Best in Class" ocean cruiser that has truly enjoyed the benefits of being well owned and pampered from day one and up until today.

U.S. Duty Paid

Standard Super Maramu Millennium Configuration. The interior accommodation is finished in burl cut plantation grown African mahogany with a semi-gloss polyurethane varnish. The overheads are cream colored textured vinyl. The sole in the saloon and galley are simulated teak and holly with blue carpet in the aft stateroom and beige carpet in the forward stateroom.

Beginning in the forepeak and working aft there is a large chain locker that is isolated from the accommodation by a genuine full height water tight collision bulkhead with a water tight door allowing access into the chain locker.

The guest stateroom is just aft and has a very large v-berth with provided filler panel and cushion that then converts this v-berth into a large double berth to port with a single berth to starboard. There is a writing desk hung on the bulkhead that folds down or up as required.

Just aft to starboard is a very generously sized hanging locker with the guest head opposite to port.

The guest head has a vanity with wash basin, Jabsco electric marine toilet with holding tank, and an integral shower with a well designed spray curtain that effectively provides a stall shower.

Just aft of the head area is the saloon. The saloon is separated from the forward accommodation by a genuine full height watertight collision bulkhead with a submarine type watertight door. The saloon contains a very spacious u-shaped dinette with table to port with a couch opposite to starboard. Outboard of the couch is a pull out pilot/sea berth. Outboard of the sea berth are lockers. A virtually identical locker arrangement is opposite outboard to port less the television compartment. The full sized navigation station is aft of the saloon to starboard with the u-shaped galley directly opposite to port. The navigation station faces outboard with a large chart table and a pylon seat. There is storage inside the chart table for navigation supplies as well as two drawers and two lockers just beneath. Just next to the navigation station is a large hanging locker, suitable for jackets and foul weather gear.

The passageway to the aft cabin contains a single berth with the battery containment compartment just beneath. This is a superb sea berth that will guarantee a restful sleep in even the worst of conditions as it is located quite low inside the vessel and very close to the pitch and roll axis.

The owner’s stateroom is all the way aft and has a genuine watertight collision bulkhead at its entry with a submarine style watertight door. There is another genuine full height watertight bulkhead at the extreme aft end of the owner’s stateroom, partitioning this cabin from the huge “garage” lazarette accessed from on deck. The owner’s stateroom has an ensuite head to port that contains a vanity with washbasin, a Jabsco Marine electric toilet with holding tank, and an integral shower with a well designed spray curtain that effectively replicates a stall shower. There is a large double berth to port with a settee and vanity opposite to starboard.
