Chris White Designs Voyager 48 - Best deal on a quality build

"Surprise" is a high performance cruising catamaran that blends sailing comfort with a high dose of sailing ability. Her lightweight construction, slender hulls and streamlined aerodynamic profile all contribute to excellent sailing performance on all points. To duplicate her today the cost would be well over three times her current asking price.

Surprise was beautifully built by Lone Star Multihulls. Great care was used to employ only premium construction materials and meticulous construction methods to ensure long term durability and control weight. The quality of construction is exceptional and it is evident when the structure of the boat is closely inspected. There are no interior liners hiding any of the structural elements- all is visible. All hardware bolts and backing plates are easily seen and can be inspected without need to peel away any covering. Electrical and plumbing runs are also accessible

Hulls are epoxy and high strength S-glass fiber over premium edge glued western red cedar core. This is one of the strongest most durable core materials and ensures there are no gaps in the core for moisture to wick.

The decks, bridge deck cabin and crossbeams are carbon fiber/epoxy over foam core. Overall the structure is enormously stiff at very low weight.

Interior cabinetwork is cherry trim on aerospace grade lightweight honeycomb panel.

In 2010 Surprise had a complete exterior AwlGrip paint job as well as a complete overhaul of systems and equipment. She is ready to take you anywhere you want to go with grace and comfort.

Description:

Layout features a large aft cockpit with all sail controls led aft for easy short handed sailing. The low profile deckhouse allows good forward visibility from the cockpit and easy walking over the top. Besides the sleek appearance, the natural flowing shape of the deckhouse contributes to the over all strength and stiffness of this catamaran and improves sailing performance through its low windage.

Fully equipped galley is located in the port. A double cabin is located aft in each hull. A single cabin is forward in the port and starboard hull. Each hull contains a head and separate shower compartment.

Construction:

Hulls are epoxy composite using uni-directional glass fiber over a westen red cedar core. Decks and bridge cabin are constructed from epoxy resin and carbon fiber skins over a PVC foam core. Crossbeams are carbon fiber/epoxy laminate. All exterior surfaces are spray painted with AwlGrip™ polyurethane coating. The hull is white, decks are light tan. The contrasting boot stripe is blue AwlGrip. Interior components are honeycomb cored glass panels for reduced weight.
