Gartside - French & Webb Double-Ended Cb Trailerable Sloop - New arrival

ELF is an exceptional trailerable cold molded k/cb pocket cruiser which was built to a modified Paul Gartside design by the highly regarded French and Webb yard in Belfast, ME.  She offers comfortable accommodations in a carefully thought out functional interior with sitting headroom as well as an oversized hatch which allows full standing room when open.  Her experienced owner has been involved in the design and building of a number of other successful designs over the years, and ELF has more than met expectations as a comfortable and easily trailerable pocket cruiser.   They have trucked her to Florida and then sailed to the Bahamas and back numerous times, and with her shoal draft and versatile sail plan her cruising grounds are extensive.  A review of the design by Art Paine appeared in Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors Magazine, and a pdf copy of the article, as well as larger drawings are available on request.

Hull:  1" thick cold molded hull (4 layers) and cabin top, fiberglass covered with 1/2" marine plywood bulkheads.

Deck:  Plywood over deck beams, 12" oc. Dynel and epoxy covered.

Keel: Built up, 9" wide, ballast is 1,100 lbs. external and 200 lbs. internal.

Stem and Stern:  laminated construction, 4" wide

Centerboard Trunk:  3/4" plywood case, glass covered, teak top for sitting.

Centerboard:  3/4" fir core, 3/4" plywood sides, laminated, 44 pound lead ballast, glass covered and tapered, 3/4" bolt fastening outside of hull.

Rudder:  1" stainless stock, 3/4" plywood faces laminated and glass covered.

Rail and Trim:  Teak

Prisms:  For interior cabin light.

Hatch:  16" Bomar

Companionway:  30" wide by 36" long.  Sliding hatch and drop board.  Vents fore and aft plus cowl vent for engine air.
