Actually Little Toot began her life on the waters of Lake Michigan as a buoy tender in the 1930's. She was an open steel boat that served a mother ship.

After her retirement from that service, an industrial arts teacher in St. Joseph found her, restored her, and added the red superstructure that gave her that tug boat look.
