MerCruiser ECT 4.5L MPI A1 Stern Drive - 250 PHP - Mercury designed this 4.5L V6 gas engine from the ground up to be a marine engine, rather than repurposing an automotive block.  They've put all the serviceable points on the front of the engine for easy access and paid special attention to reducing noise and vibration.  But most significantly, they've squeezed 250 hp out of a V6, shedding more than 130 pounds compared with the equivalent V8.
