Abeking & Rasmussen Sparkman & Stephens Yawl

REF 904: Baccarat is among the most beautiful Sparkman & Stephens designs built by Abeking Rasmussen in 1953, number one recommended at that time. The first owner, George Coumantaros -a Greek billionaire, commissioned her, after winning the game of Baccarat in Monaco casino. The current owner has the privilege to own her for over 17 years now. A yacht like Baccarat, is actually not a possession, in fact she is curator of Olin Stephens inheritance. Although the current owner spent many miles sailing her, he equally enjoyed restoring this old lady. And everywhere he anchored, people came to him expressing their admiration for her lines and her looks. She was built as a racer/cruiser and sailed under New York Yacht Club originally, performing well in Bermuda classic regattas (1954…1968). Today she sails under Royal Dutch Yacht Club (De Maas) in Rotterdam and for the last 5 years the current owner has been exploring the Mediterranean sea, leaving her in Greece at the moment. As a cruiser she is built save and solid. This effects the weight, but the owner hates all those fragile and half empty interiors in racing yachts of that time. Baccarat has solid mahogany doors, open fire place and massive floor planking. She took current owner's family in all weather conditions and they, definitely, never felt unsafe for a single moment.
