Laurent Giles Yawl - MASSIVE PRICE REDUCTION!

Silver Lynx was originally conceived as an expedition vessel for motion picture production

and is in every respect a proper ship. The brief was for a visually striking yacht to add

photogenic value to any film, while providing the cast and crew with a reliable, comfortable,    luxurious lifestyle in all seas.  Passers by regularly say “Lovely Yacht!”

She is an elegant Classic style Yacht, Yawl rigged with an eye catching suit of sails, featuring a

high cut Yankee, a Genoa Staysail, a high aspect Main, a Mizzen Staysail, and a small Mizzen.

Downwind she flies large symmetrical and asymmetrical Spinnakers with Lynx logo’s in red.

The hull recently resprayed  in Awlgrip white with understated red stripes, has well proportioned traditional overhangs,  a low profile coachroof, and a walk around teak deck, newly recaulked, and in excellent condition.

The rugged aluminium hull is designed to Lloyds scantlings, and was built for operation in           known ice. Silver Lynx carries top quality equipment and electronics, with duplication for essential systems, to ensure the yacht remains operational at all times. She is fitted with a   6 cylinder  Perkins commercial marine diesel, and a special Hundestad controllable pitch propeller.  This enables her to motor sail very efficiently in all conditions, and gives her excellent passage making capabilities. Linked to a generous fuel capacity, it ensures that the yacht can meet demanding schedules to and from difficult locations. She is a great synthesis   between a classic spirited sailing vessel and a long range motor yacht.

Silver Lynx is in full round the world configuration, ready to cruise to any destination.

The Laurent Giles Archive comprises of more than one thousand designs. The entire anthology is one of the most significant collected works in the theatre of marine design and includes dozens of well known household names, radical and ground breaking racing and cruising yachts and many significant but lesser known yachts that have undertaken circumnavigations. Many Laurent Giles designs were the basis for evolutionary and pioneering design and engineering practices.

Laurent Giles designs are beautiful and coveted. They have always been admired for their elegance form and function. Many of the yachts are the subject of their own, and their owner's biographies.

This complete collection contains unique and individual bespoke creations of yachts and commercial vessels. These prominent and famous works of art and endeavor have been fashioned by three naval architecture practices in the eighty years since Jack Laurent Giles first started his yacht design company in 1927.

The full collection of design drawings, technical data and building specifications, designer's texts and photographic images has now been restored and documented, scanned and consolidated for use by yacht owners, boat builders and repairers, model makers and those of us who are simply looking for decorative marine nauticalia and are inspired by Laurent Giles' unsurpassed design heritage.

 From the owner
She was set up to be sailed shorthanded -  from the comfort of the cockpit. We can reef, and furl, and hoist and haul down the hanked on staysail without going on deck. In real storm conditions, we can go through the fore cabin, and hank on and hoist and downhaul the storm jib, all from the safety of the forepeak.
