Calkins Ketch

The Calkins 50 Zapata II has returned to the market with a fresh set of Ullman sails and a new asking price of $ 155,000. She has a long history of being one of the most pristine boats in Newport Harbor and shows pride of ownership from bow to stern. Originally she was built as a sister ship to the famous Trans Pac racer “Legend”. Built of strip planked mahogany over oak frames by American Marine in Hong Kong with her displacement coming in at only 22,000 pounds.

Take the time to preview Zapata II at your soonest convenience and let her fulfill your boating dreams.

Beginning forward, you’ll find an accessible anchor well, followed by a spacious V-berth with reading lamps, hanging locker, storage under berth and foredeck ladder.

Next aft and to port is the head with an electric head. Notice the finish on the varnish, and the attention to detail throughout the boat.

Continuing aft from the forward head there are two straight settees and a center drop leaf table in the center of the salon. Above both settees are storage lockers with port lights above.

Next aft and to starboard is the galley that features Adler Barbour cold plate refrigeration, 3-burner Shipmate LPG stove and oven and more than enough counter space and storage for preparing large meals for the whole family and crew.

Across and to port is the navigation station with large chart table and two shelfs for electronics. Located on the port bulkhead is the electric panel and battery switches.

Aft of the center cockpit is the owners stateroom with double berth and separate head. Overhead deck hatch and port light ensure good ventilation.
