Catana 471

This West Coast Catana 471 has enjoyed regular refits since her 2001 launch.  The latest refit was in 2010 when the Sellers were getting her ready for their now-completed cruise.  She is an owner's version that has been thoughtfully setup for the Pacific Coast and is generousy equipped for her next adventure.  Attention to detail and maintenance are evident throughout - especially in her well organized engine and mechanical rooms.

Catana 471s are capable offshore catamarans that deliver performance and comfort to their sailing crew.   This 471 is not weighed down by air conditioning, generators, and associated fuel.  Instead she is set up with strong solar charging, a 1200 amp hour house bank and a system of cockpit and boom awnings that shelter her living spaces at anchor.  Catana 471s offer a very welcoming cockpit that opens directly into the aft facing galley in the salon.  20 opening hatches below make for excellent cross-ventilation and a comfortable indoor/outdoor living between the salon and cockpit.

Below, her starboard hull is the owner's private suite with a large ensuite head and shower forward and a central washer/dryer.  Guests enjoy an aft stateroom to port that can be converted to either individual single bunks or a large double.  A shared central head and ample cabinetry for stowage is amidships and a second double-cabin is forward. 

The comforts are below but the light and liveliness are on the large clear deck.  Daggerboards provide excellent windward ability and off-wind speed when sailing.  Dual helms give clear vision of sails, excellent sensation, and easy close quarters maneuvering.  Light composite construction ensures sailing speed and agility.  A roachy main is coupled with a carbon mast to drive her well while keep pitching moments to a minimum.  Her suite of headsails includes 2 spinnakers, a 4 oz screecher on an aluminum sprit, a genoa and a jib on a forward track for ease of tacking to windward.
