From the pen of naval architect Thomas Gilmar and high quality built by the former CE Ryder Corp of Bristol, Rhode Island.  Thomas Gilmer was the head of the naval architect design department for the US Naval Academy. He designed the first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate the globe. The Southern Cross combines the best of modern design with the sea keeping ability of the traditional double-ended Colin Archer boats. This creates a fast,rugged vessel capable of extended passages."Cara Mia" Italian for "my beloved". This is virtually a brand new boat-  hull # 52.  The boat had never been in water until this spring (2014). It is loaded with equipment including refrig/freezer and central AC/heat. The Yanmar diesel has only start up hours. The vessel has never been slept aboard. The interior was completed by a local master craftsman and it's a true work of art. The mast,all standing & running rigging, sails and canvas are new.
