Ct 49 Cutter

More than 80 of these boats were built and in a wide variety of configurations. The boats were built with either a reverse sheer transom in the 47, or with a more spacious aft deck in the contemporary transom 49. In addition the cockpit could be a center or an aft configuration and the rig could be cutter or ketch and there was even a pilothouse configuration available. All the options were known to have excellent sailing characteristics and are fast, comfortable, and offshore capable.

 I feel the one we have here is the best of the options, a cutter rigged center cockpit 49. Some of the added custom features of this vessel put it several notches above the rest. First the teak decks have been removed with an attractive nonskid pattern. This lost several hundreds of pounds of weight up high, and cleaned and simplified the already good looking hull and deck shape. Another huge plus was the replacement of all the aluminum portlight frames with custom stainless steel ones. Yet another valuable addition was the handsome stainless arch aft for radar, solar, wind, antennas and dinghy davits. The shape of this arch actually enhances the long and elegant sheer of this head turner. Hull has also been recently painted and the net effect is clean, modern, capable, and ready. A complete refit in late 2010 emphasizes the ready and capable part of this exceptional vessel.
