A piece of floating maritime history the John Bain designed, James A Silver built TSDY 'Samara' is a real treasure trove of original fittings and period features, afloat and fully in commission! Owned by the same family since the current owner's father commissioned the boat in 1949 the boat has been subject to continuous professional maintenance through out its life time, being stored ashore under cover each of last 37 winters. Still with many of the original fittings including main engines, lighting sets, hydraulic windlass, cast iron davits and more 'Samara' is a rare find these days and would be ideal for the classic regatta circuit in the med. Built of the finest materials available at the time for discerning owners the TSDY class are still highly regarded today and have aged well. Viewing is required to fully appreciate the boats qualities and original condition. Currently Afloat and in commission Ardfern. The Silvers TSDY class are widely regarded to have been built to the highest of standards from the finest materials available. The condition of Samara after 65 season of use is testament alone to original specification of a discerning owners. Hull built in a carvel fashion with substantial Mahogany planking above the waterline on heavy oak frames and Larch planking below the waterline. The deck is of solid laid Teak, traditionally caulked. All timber work above deck level, toerail, deck hatches, wheel house etc are of teak construction finished in gloss varnish. Below decks again all joinery work is of Mahogany construction to the finest standard.
