Catalac 900 - Available now

Catalac 900
This was the last Catalac 900 out of the mould from Blue Water, No 920, with a builder’s certificate dated September 1997. The contract was signed in 1997 at a contract price of over £27,000 (I have receipt with VAT paid).

In January 1999 the fit-out was taken over by John Lack whose costs came to over £24,500, including the purchase cost of 2 x 2 GM 18hp Yanmar Sail-drives, pods, looms, and other associated items (receipts available). This work was protracted because of lack of funds and ill health of John Lack and family members.

 Work included:

Fitting of internal bulkheads and water tanks
Rudders and Skegs
Lewmar hatches
Hull Epoxy coated with 4 coats
Stainless steel deck fittings
Hatches fitted and s/s hinges etc.
All reinforcements for deck for mast tracks etc.
Stainless steel railings
Well over £8,000 spent on these items.

Later work was done by another fitter and included:
Galley area
Starboard bunk and chart table
New 3 way fridge.
New oven and hob
New sink and taps.
Some electrics
Head linings.
Lining out cupboards etc.
Well over £6,000 spent on these items and other misc work.

I bought the boat in late 2008 with great intentions of having time to finish off the work.
I was let down on timescales by contractors but have had the following work done at great expense:
Engine pods glassed in and engines fitted.
New windows with custom made stainless steel surrounds.
New Cabin door by Bowmar and new vertical hatch to
Stainless steel cabin and coach roof grab rails.
Stainless steel pulpit with corner seats.
6 stainless steel stanchions and gangways.
Stainless steel pulpit bowsprit and anchor fairlead.
2 x stainless steel fuel tanks
4 x batteries
New s/s Morse dual engine control.
Re-wiring.

I also had various internal work done to reinforce some items and the fitting of bulkheads to make ready for final finish of soft furnishings.

To date the boat has had approx £75,000 put into it and now needs the final internal fit out with a lot of parts already purchased.
The mast needs to be stepped and rigging attached. All supplied.
This would suit someone who wants to put their own personal touch to finish the boat, with the high cost items already complete. The windows, with their stainless steel surrounds and the Bowmar door set it apart from any other Catalac.

I purchased at a cost of some £4,000 a very good second-hand mast, rigging and sails, as below. These were taken off a Catalac by the new owner in 2005 as he only wanted to use the engines so the condition is very good; the sails are in as new condition.

2nd Hand mast and sails:
Good quality mast
Kemp spar boom
Roller genoa, 150%, Crusader sails - new in 2004, not used so as new.
Mainsail - new in 2004, as new
All rigging replaced in 2004 - 10mm and 6mm all very good.
Facnor furling gear.
