Classic Power Yacht 50? Elco Hardtop - Proteus II
The vessel “Proteus II” is a classic yacht power driven vessel built by Elco Boat Works of Bayonne, NJ in 1929. She is designed primarily for use on near costal waters, bays and rivers. The interior of the vessel consists of a main cabin, v-berth with two singles, double berth, single berth, galley, and enclosed head. Her cabin sole is constructed of marine hardwood with the majority of the interior finishes being bright work. There are cushions on all bunks, which were in good condition at the time of the survey. She has overnight accommodations for seven people and ample storage room. She is constructed with one marine head and a USCG approved MSD type 3 sanitary holding and discharge system. The vessel has a full galley with a stove, sink, and ice box. Her water supply is fed from two copper water tanks totaling a reported 400 gallons. The system is pressurized in the head and galley by a 12-volt pressure actuated pump. The vessel is also equipped with a hot water heater, which can be heated with an 115v AC element in the tank. The vessel is equipped with all USCG required safety equipment for a vessel of her size (unless otherwise noted below). The vessel as a whole was constructed using quality workmanship and the finest marine grade materials throughout. The main construction material in her hull, deck, and superstructure is Mahogany for house and interior, spruce carvel planks for the hull material and white oak, steamed and cut for the hull frames and house and deck structure. The vessel is powered by twin 95 H.P. Nissan diesel engines. The engines do not have hour meters, however based on the visual appearance and age the surveyor assumed that they have less than 1,000 hours of running time accumulated.
