Century 16 Corsair - Classic wooden beauty!

Take a look at this lovely 1961 CENTURY CORSAIR........only 131 of these classic beauties were ever manufactured. No doubt owning one of these rare boats in American history would give you special bragging rights.

A friend of the owner's family, purchased this boat from CENTURY in 1961, and remained a neighbor in the Texas oil business. A family treasure, the boat went into storage in 1986. The current owner purchased the boat from the friend's estate in 2004.

The owner contracted with a well-known, Austin area wood boat restoration specialist a few years ago. The restoration was completed a year later. When restored, there was no rotting wood found in the boat which indicated the preservative care this boat had received.

Stock #68631 I personally inspected and photographed this beautiful CENTURY CORSAIR boat. I consider the boat to be in a fine state of repair. There are a few places on the hull and deck areas which I would refurbish. In fact, I spoke with the gentleman who completed the restoration a few years back. I sent him the listing information and asked him to comment on what he saw. Here is how he responded......"This boat looks typical for a Texas boat. In our heat the deck seams open a little as the planks shrink some. Same for the sides. The deck seams would need to be cleaned out and re-cauked and painted white. The side seams could be filled with a mahogany colored caulk like Sikaflex but they would remain visible until the next time the boat was re-finished. The bottom has been painted with a Bronze paint, probably Pettit 1959 Hard Racing paint if I was the last to do it. Any open seams would need to be caulked and then the bottom painted with 2 coats of the bronze." Though this fine boat would be a wonderful toy for cool morning and evening cruises, I can also see it as a "show piece" in a museum, or a fine seafood restaurant
