Valiant Rare Centerboard - VALIANT 40? - RARE CNTERBOARD

Naval Architect Bob Perry, has incorporated into this sturdy double ender, both seaworthiness and ample interior space that offers steady and comfortable cruising. The Valiant 40 is a proven modern classic and “LAST CHANCE” is a perfect example,  incorporating a tumble home stern, bulwarks, dorades, opening ports, oversize rigging and quality construction.  Performance has become synonymous with Valiant and is in no small way responsible for its success. SAIL Magazine selected the Valiant 40 as the ”Offshore Cruiser of the Decade”.   For those who plan to cruise in shoal waters and the islands of the Bahamas, “Last Chance”  is one of the very rare centerboard variations of these great yachts and the only one available at this time. It has been well maintained and had had significant refit and upgrades including electronics and hull refinishing.  Affordable and ready to go.

THIS IS A RARE, CENTERBOARD VALIANT 40!!!!!

This well traveled yacht, sleeps seven people in accommodations with the double V-Berth, main salon settees (port pulls out to a “double) and quarter berth cabin. Like all Valiant Yachts, the main salon settees and the quarter berth make excellent offshore sleeping quarters. The interior of the Valiant 40’ is dry, bright, comfortable and well ventilated with 10-screened opening ports, 5 large opening hatches and a large companionway hatch.

Cabinetry and features throughout this beautifully designed yacht, far exceed the standard layout of this much sought after traditional, side entry Valiant, with the Captains quarters in the port double aft quarter berth. She is a famous “traditional layout” Valiant 40’ which has taken more sailors on circumnavigations, than any other yacht design ever built.

Below the water line, the hull shows a fine entry with a long cutaway forefoot followed by an efficient and modern keel section and a deep profile skeg hung rudder, just forward of a tapered stern section. This design combination readily separates the Valiant from other traditional yachts and offers ease of handling and lively performance.

The interior of “LAST CHANCE” features the traditional tri-cabin layout with an aft stateroom and a spacious central salon. The main salon is open and inviting with large settees, providing for comfortable berths at sea, a wide sole and numerous stowage areas.

She features private accommodations for the owners in the aft stateroom, a double berth forward, plus settee berths for an additional three guests.

Most forward  and  aft  of  the chain locker, you will find the V-quarter berth with a large opening hatch above the berth. The forward cabin is closed off by a teak door. Next aft to port is a head with ample storage, several lockers and cupboards and an opening port in head.

Directly across and to starboard are two large, full length hanging lockers with bookshelves over. There is also a screened opening port. All locker doors have louvered vents for air circulation.

Moving aft is the main salon which is located amidships with large comfortable settees to port and starboard, with cushions, a custom teak table, and with a most unusual, for a VALIANT, complete “C” shaped Port Settee. There is a large opening hatch overhead and opening ports with screens. Storage is abundant on “LAST CHANCE” with custom cabinet and drawer on BOTH the starboard and port sides over settee and book shelves forward and abundant storage areas behind settees and under bunks. Teak & spruce sole in main salon, forward and aft cabins.

Aft of the main salon and to starboard, is a proper offshore, forward facing navigation station and chart table with tremendous room for compliment of navigation and electronic equipment for easy use while navigating. The large nav table has a large storage locker under the desk top and room for the additional electronic navigation and communication equipment outboard.

Just aft of the nav station and directly across from the galley are two huge lockers, one a pantry with shelf top lockers, which provides a tremendous amount of space for provisions, the other, a large, full length wet locker. There is a teak grate built into the teak and holly sole, at the bottom of the companionway, to catch water from wet gear. With the wet locker and teak draining grate, which drains to the bilge, all foul weather gear is kept aft and away from the main living quarters. All locker doors are ventilated.

Aft of the main salon and to port, is the classic “wrap around” or, “U” shape configured, offshore safe galley, that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside. There is generous cabinet & counter space, galley drawers, a single doored locker under the sink, 1 large deep stainless steel sink and 1 large shallow stainless steel sink, 3 burner, gimbaled propane Force 10 range with oven, hot & cold pressure water, galley fresh water Manual pump, as well as a foot operated Salt Water Pump. Over the galley is a large opening hatch and an opening screened port for light and ventilation. Richard Bears Freezer & Fridge in a large athwartship box.

Next aft to port is the Captains aft cabin. There is a double berth with storage, dressing seat, shelftop locker ensuite. The aft stateroom also has excellent ventilation provided by an overhead hatch and 2 opening ports with screens.

Below deck ventilation far surpasses the standards in the industry. This yacht incorporates beautiful teak and holly sole and a new England style interior with white painted bulkheads and varnished teak trim, teak cabinets and teak lockers.
