Whitby 42 Centre Cockpit Ketch

The first Whitby 42 splashed out of the yard in Ontario, Canada in 1973. Whitby Yachts, owned by Kurt and Doris Hansen, went on to build 200 hulls from 1973 to 1983. Previous to this, Whitby Boat Works had built the Alberg 30 and the Alberg 37.  Production then shifted south to Fort Myers Shipyard in Florida where another 32 of these ketches were built along with the Brewer 12.8 and Brewer 44.  This represents an excellent pedigree of cruising vessels with around 300 built.

Probably the most commercially successful boats from the legendary Ted Brewer.  A major attraction for this vessel is the large accommodations and shoal draft.  The Whitby 42 has completed plenty of offshore cruises and provides and excellent vessel for Caribbean cruiser.  Plenty of sail options with a ketch rig and the safety and comfort of a center cockpit.

This boat has extensive ocean experience and was purchased by current owner in 2006. Several years on dry dock to upgrade all interiors, tanks, electrical, plumbing, paints and varnishes, toilets, stove, batteries, electronics, portholes, etc. Then recently (2012) the deck was stripped, repaired and painted indoor, stanchion bases were replaced, hardware re-chromed, new sail covers and dodger. Addition in 2013 of a winter canvas cover with aluminum frame. Over $100,000 spent in total to upgrade.  Engine and transmission were factory rebuilt in 2011.

Lots of electronics, windlass, and an extensive retrofit.  Ready to go on your ocean adventure!
