Gulfstar Sailmaster 50

A LOT OF BOAT FOR THE MONEY. A GREAT LIVEABOARD AS WELL. THE OWNER WANTS HER SOLD!!

"Lychonia" is a fine example of the Gulfstar Sailmaster 50 series. With only 17 of them built from 1982 to 1985 they are a rather exclusive club; she is hull number 15. They were built in three configurations- one was with a dinette down and across from the galley and the other two had a third stateroom where the dinette down would be. One third stateroom configuration had bunk beds and a set of drawers; one had a double berth and rattan locker storage along the hullside. This third configuration was what Lychonia has, giving her three full cabins with double or queen berthing and more storage in that stateroom than the bunk bed configuration.

The large center cockpit has a walk-thru coaming that is to die for and plenty of room for guests to stretch out. There is also a large bench seat directly behind the helm on the back deck, the foredeck is huge and great for sunning (or lounge chairs) and the raised house also provides more seating forward.

Some career opportunities in her owner’s work lives have made getting to use her as much as she should be just not possible for the next several years. While they love the boat and hate to part with it, it just doesn’t make good sense, so this was the logical step.

One doesn’t see these for sale that often. With a large centerline queen in the master stateroom aft, a raised saloon, two spacious guest cabins forward & loads of space and storage, the Sailmaster 50 is a truly ideal live aboard cruising yacht. "Lychonia" features electric in-mast furling, an electric furling Genoa, bow thruster, the latest and greatest four blade Max-Prop, wind and solar power generation, lots of spares and many other features that make her a great cruising home. Easily handled by a couple, she truly is “turn-key” and ready to go.

Whether you are looking for a spacious cruising boat or making the jump to living aboard and living your dream, "Lychonia" is certainly a yacht worthy of your consideration! Call and make an appointment to see her soon!

Forward stateroom: Headroom in this space is 6’4”.Starting forward, there is double-door access to the divided anchor locker. The berth is 6’8” long and 6’2” wide and has an anchor well storage area forward, a storage bin on starboard and a set of three drawers beneath it. Along either hullside is a fiddled shelf aft and double rattan door lockers forward, which provide a tremendous amount of storage. On starboard there is a nightstand top with a cabinet beneath it, then a full height hanging locker with a louvered door. An overhead hatch, opening port and 12v fan provide ventilation to the space as well as augment the pair of reading lights and overhead light.

Forward en-suite head: Located on port within the forward stateroom, there is a radiused countertop and sink along the hullside. Above that are laminate front cabinets; the right hand cabinet is shorter and has a shelf above it, with a porthole above that. The head is to the right.

Guest stateroom: Located on port and just aft of the forward head. The cabin has 6’4” headroom and a 72” x 60” x 46” custom innerspring mattress. Two drawers are at the foot of the bed and storage beneath the bunk is accessed below the mattress. There is a large overhead shelf above the head of the bed. Along the hull side up high are three rattan double door cabinets; below that and more at night stand height is a fiddled rail shelf along the length of the bunk. There is a 12v. fan, dorade vent and an overhead hatch for ventilation.

Galley: The galley has 6’7” headroom and is located on starboard across from the middle stateroom. There is a wonderful upright refrigerator/freezer the owners had installed in 2010 that is just forward of the L-shaped counter. The L of the counter is aft and has the double sink in it; there is storage beneath the sink and a large dry bin with a cutting board top in the corner. There is a drop-down countertop extension to the right of the sink that adds a lot more space if you need it- though you have good counter space to begin with. Coming around the L there is a three burner stove with a convection oven/microwave beneath it. On either side of the oven are stacks of drawers. Above the counter behind the refrigerator there is a huge cabinet with a laminate door front. Moving around to along the hullside, there are six laminate door cabinets, while below that are sliding Plexiglas doors covering up even more storage. There is a Hella fan, dorade vent and an overhead hatch for ventilation.

Saloon: Moving aft from the galley and up three steps you enter the saloon. The entire space is huge and well lit, with two hatches, nine large fixed lights and 6’4” headroom. On starboard there is a settee, with storage beneath and behind the cushions. That flips open to make a nice, 6’7” long double berth. There is a large open shelf behind it. On the forward end of that is a fiddled pass-thru counter space to the galley, which also serves as an end table. Across on port is a large L-shaped dinette. The dinette table itself is height adjustable. There is storage below and behind the seating and a large shelf above and behind along the hull. On the forward end of the settee is a large shelf with a 32” flat screen TV and DVD player. On the aft end is the wet bar. When not in use, there is a teak countertop, which is actually two sliding pieces. The aft top slides open to reveal a storage space for rocks glasses, napkins or whatever you want to store- it’s about 4” -5” high. Beneath that is the icemaker.  The forward top slides open to reveal a sink. Beneath that is a storage locker with double rattan doors. Above all of this are two sliding Plexiglas doors; the right hand side is for bottle storage and the left is shelf space. There is a corridor leading to the master stateroom down two steps on port. Along the corridor and just aft of the wet bar is a hamper, with a double door linen closet above that.

Nav station: The nav is located at the base of the companionway on starboard and just aft of the saloon settee. There is a swivel seat with arms that swings in under the nav top when not in use. The top surface itself is large and will easily fit a chart book. There is storage beneath the top and below it as well. To the right as you are seated there is additional shelf and locker storage, with the electrical panel close at hand as well.

Aft stateroom: Entering the master stateroom from the corridor, the walk-around centerline queen berth is the focal point of the space. On the right as you enter are two full-height hanging lockers. Across from the hanging lockers on the starboard side of the cabin is a changing seat with storage beneath it and a stack of drawers above it.  At the foot of the bed is drawer storage, while on either side at nightstand height are teak counters that run from the lockers to the head of the bed. There are top opening lids to storage spaces below, with removable teak bin interiors which allow access to the hull and more storage beneath them. There are rail fiddled shelves along either hullside above those; at the head on either side is a rattan door locker. The headroom in this cabin is 6’3”. Ventilation and lighting is provided by five opening ports, one fixed port, one overhead hatch and assorted overhead and reading lights. There is also a Hella fan and air conditioning in the cabin.

Aft stateroom en suite head: Entering the master head, there is 6’3” headroom in here as well. To your left is the shower stall, which has a shower massage type wand on an adjustable height bar. There is a large countertop with the sink centered on it and a large teak framed mirror above and double- door storage below it. Along the hullside is a sliding mirrored doors medicine cabinet with a shelf above it and an opening port.
