Overview

This 85’ Horizon yacht is spacious and traditionally designed by world-class naval architects with attention to detail and offers a comfortable, dry ride. Hull construction utilized state-of-the-art SCRIMP fiberglass lamination methods which were originally developed for the U.S. Navy for strength and safety.

The full walk-around decks and high bulwarks with 2” thick stainless handrails provide safety for children and adults alike.

The large exterior teak finished Aft Deck and Cockpit welcomes you aboard. The Aft Deck has very comfortable bench seating with Donghia Sunbrella fabric along with a beautifully finished, adjustable teak table. A stainless gas BBQ is conveniently located on the Aft Deck with an adjacent service sink. There is abundant lighting for the Aft Deck as well as aft facing spotlights and underwater lighting beneath the swim platform.

There is a padded seating bench at the bow and, above it, a cushioned sun pad on the forward deck with adjacent stainless grab rails.

Twin curved stairways lead from the Aft Deck to a 5’ fishing Cockpit with an integrated live bait tank.

The aft swim platform has a retractable swimming ladder and 21⁄2” diameter “inverted U” removable safety rails along with an aft built-in hand shower with hot and cold water. The removable inverted stainless rails and cockpit fairlead cleats allow the dinghy to be boarded comfortably and safely from the swim platform when it is deployed.

The interior, designed by David Lockhart of Vancouver, BC, purposefully permits you to enjoy shipboard life and relax in comfort with welcoming yet luxurious ambiance. Fine woods are used throughout with meticulous attention to details. Satin-finished Makore wood was installed on the vertical surfaces in the main deck with Carpathian Elm Burl trim on the horizontal surfaces of the cabinetry and, below, cherry wood with a similar Elm Burl trim was utilized extensively throughout the stateroom deck level to create a lighter feel and warmth. Beautiful and well-padded wool carpeting was used throughout the living quarters and compliment mahogany hardwood soles in the Galley, Dinette, and Pilothouse. A variety of granite or marble accents are used to enhance the décor. A custom designed wide stairway was constructed accessing the Pilothouse. All stairways onboard have added safety handrails. Curved wood trim around the valance headers with indirect and direct lighting, beautiful window coverings and comfortable furnishings add to the atmosphere in all areas. A great “Home Theater” 6.1 Sound System provides viewing of the 50” Plasma TV in the Salon with distributed audio elsewhere in the boat. There is a 42” Plasma TV in the Master Suite and other flat screens in the other staterooms, the Galley and the Pilothouse. The ceilings all use interlocking panels.

Contemporary style stainless or chrome hardware and high quality locks are used throughout with a large stainless Trend sliding aft door connecting the Salon to the expansive covered Aft Deck. The teak table and ample deck seating permit informal meals while fine dining in the spacious “Country Kitchen” dinette or at the Salon Dining table providing wonderful alternatives.

The Galley possesses ample storage, a large 36” Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, full sized GE Profile cooktop and oven, a GE Space-maker Convection Microwave, a Deluxe Bosch dishwasher, a Broan trash compactor and beautiful granite countertops.

A Whirlpool Stacking large capacity Neptune washer and dryer is in the forward cabin area while a GE Stacking washer and dryer is aft in the Crew Area providing convenient facilities.

A dedicated U-Line icemaker is located in the Salon and a Combo icemaker and refrigerator are located in the Crew’s Quarters with a stainless sink.

The full beam Master Stateroom showcases a king size bed and multiple luxurious amenities. It leads to a large well appointed Head with double sink, private toilet area and larger walk-in shower with bench and ample storage. A 42” Plasma TV, DVD Player and great sound system plus two walk-in closets and settee with small cocktail table are accompaniments to the comfy master berth with a hydraulic lift to access the storage beneath.

Indirect lighting is present throughout the living spaces in addition to all other staterooms, Salon and Galley. Safety lights are present on all steps.

The Forward VIP Cabin with En-suite Head and shower has a Queen-sized bed with underneath stowage as well.

To portside forward is a Twin-berth Guest Stateroom with En-suite head and shower. Aft, in addition to the Captain’s Quarters with full sized bed, there is a twin berth stateroom either used for Crewmembers or additional guests. “Casual” occasional short term berths can be had on the comfortable settees in the Salon or Sky Lounge as the cushion backs of both are designed to be removable with “twin bed” size base cushions.

The upper Pilothouse is located in the heated and air conditioned Sky Lounge outfitted with two Stidd Captain’s chairs, one with motorized adjustment. The large 9’ console is neatly arranged with interchangeable displays of navigational software, depth sounders, radar, and video camera. A convenient desk and built-in file cabinetry, large chart drawer, comfortable leather settee with game table and nearby Day Head make piloting comfortable and enjoyable for the Helmsman and fun and safe for guests who congregate nearby when underway.

A sliding door leads to the aft Boat Deck where the tender and davit are located. A 12-man life raft sits mounted above the curved stairway down to the Aft Deck.

Comfort in all climates can be assured by the chilled-water reverse cycle 12-ton air conditioning system which provides heat with an exchanger system. It is complimented by a diesel fired Wabasto furnace and circulating heating system when necessary.

All in all, this is a very livable and comfortable yacht, which has carried its Owners through the Northern British Columbian and Alaskan waters for several summers of cruising and to the warmer winter waters of Southern California and Mexico, including the Sea of Cortez and as far south along the “Gold Coast” as Manzanillo. While not true, permanent “Live-Aboard” say they feel as if this has been their “favorite home” since they participated in its design and monitored her construction in 2003.
