Hatra Werft Classic Cruising Ketch - Classic Cruising Ketch
Founded in 1919 by Alfred Hagelstein, the Hatra Yard of Lübeck belonged to a family trust specialised in the production of hard machinery for agricultural works or for the asphalt. In the naval sector, Hatra built also some big yacht fitted out to the higher luxury and comfort possible, as the Mararafare (ex-Wabi Sabi). This big ketch shows a clear relatioship with the North Sea fishermen, with her canoe stern and high bow, that make for a comfortable and safe sailing. Their performances were well balanced between sails and power, in order to improve the sailing comfort and engine economy, thus reaching “the best of two worlds”. The Mararafare mixes in great style all the bonuses of this kind of vessels. She is elegant, sturdy, safe, economic and sufficiently fast (eight knots of cruising speed). She joins her austere lines, not lacking of elegance and a certain flair, to an impressive interior, for the craftmanship level, the opulence of the systems and the space throughout, with some ingenious ideas as the half baths in the head compartments, or the traditional and effective tables anchorage system and other too many to tell here. All the electronics are working, even the older, and there are lots of systems, as the gyroscopic compass from Sharp. The Mararafare is in very good shape and she is constantly maintained by a professional crew.
