Freedom Yachts 45 Center Cockpit

Stunning example of classic freshwater cruiser that was Freedom showboat of the 1989 eastcoast boat shows and was built for a member of the company's board of directors.  This is one of the few boats built to ABYS standards, has brass plate affixed below the companionway hatch to attest to ABYS status.  Conceived by Garry Hoyt and designed by Gary Mull, the Freedom 45 is easily sailed by a couple without leaving the cockpit.  Mainsail can be raised or lowered or reefed from the cockpit.  This vessel is in bristol condition, better than new, with many upgrades added by the current owner who has loved this boat for 12 years, including awlgriped hull and deck, refinished brightwork and interior teak, new canvas, new upholstery, upgraded electronics, new refrigeration and trash compactor, bow thruster and furling boom with new main sail.  The diesel engine has less than 1200 hours from new.  The owner is selling because of retirement plans.

The center cockpit layout of the Freedom 45 offers a very roomy and spacious interior.  She will comfortably sleep 7 adults in two staterooms and main salon. There is 6'4" head room throughout.  Starting in the guest cabin forward you will find a separate door to the head, six drawers, three opening ports, a large overhead hatch, and a cedar lined hanging locker.  There is a reading lamp in addition to indirect and night lighting.

Next comes the guest head/shower with a separate door to the salon.  The main features of the salon are a back lighted bar with bottle and stemware storage, an entertainment center with a pull out and swiveling TV with DVD player and AM/FM radio with CD player.  There is a straight settee on the port side with an L shaped dinette across.  The table unfolds to double size and services both areas.  There is a pilot berth on the starboard side creating the third berth in the salon area and storage in the table base as well as under both settees.  There are five opening ports and two deck hatches.  Direct and indirect lighting and night lights, plus over head grab rails.

The well thought out galley is on the port side of the companionway and provides a safe environment for underway meals.  There are numerous drawers and cabinets with positive locking systems.  The large S/S sink has a drain board and single lever faucet as well as manual pump, three burner propane stove with remote shut off solenoid, coffee maker, microwave and trash compactor.

The nav station is to the right of the companionway and is a superbly laid out and fully equipped operations center.  There is a secure pull out chair, drawers and storage for navigation tools and all ships manuals that are subdivided by topic and located in a special file hanging drawer.  Behind the nav. station in the walkthrough is a power center that has all systems monitors and circuit protection.  This panel also contains the generator controls as well as the tank level indicating system.

The engine and generator are accessed from the passage way, both show as new and are easy to maintain.  The refrigeration compressor is mounted above the generator on a special roll out shelf for ease of servicing.  There is a wet locker across from the engine room.  The aft cabin has an island queen bed, vanity and great storage everywhere.  The master head has a separate shower stall.  There are four opening ports and an overhead hatch.  Direct, indirect , and night lighting along with the reverse cycle heating/air conditioning add to the creature comforts
