Burmester Staysail Schooner - Iconic Yacht

The legendary ASCHANTI IV OF VEGESACK ex ASCHANTI OF SABA, is a beautiful classic staysail schooner with a total lenght of 34.80 m. She was originally built by Burmester in Bremen where she was launched with triumph in 1954. Her naval architect Henry Gruber created her core hull out of steel while using teak wood for the most part of the superstructure. Her stylish interior was originally designed by Dee Robinson.

After her take-over by her recent owner in 1991 she was refitted and altered in the shipyard Fr. Lürssen in Bremen till 1994. Her interior was redesigned by Schnaase Design and Studio Faggioni. Comprehensive works had to be done on her hull and rigging – now using american spruce – and installing up to date technology, amongst others electrical and hydraulic winches, before relaunching her and sailing her to new destinations.

ASCHANTI’s timeless interior and elegant ambience offers plenty of space for six guests and four to six crew. The in 2009 completely redone mahagony salon adds to the comfort and relaxed well-being on board.

The maritime jewel has since been professionally maintained, upgraded and captained. The excellent performance of ASCHANTI VI OF VEGESACK on long sea voyages, also proven during classic regattas worldwide and high-speed ocean crossings, ensures safe and comfortable sailing trips.
