Hinterholler 30 Ultra

The Nonsuch 30 is well known for their simple rig and ease of handling.  They also have the greatest layout of any vessel in their size range.

"Simba" has been loved by the current owners since 1988, and has been lavished with great care and constant upgrades.  She has remained in Northern New England all of that time and has been stored inside in the off season.  Simba's hull is a beautiful green Awl-Grip in great condition.  Equipment includes Raymarine C-80 plotter / Radar, below deck mounted Autopilot, Electric Windlass, Electric halyard winch, diesel cabin heater, propane galley stove, and a full cockpit enclosure and dodger in tan sunbrella.

For someone seeking a perfect Nonsuch 30, "Simba" should be inspected.  She is in the water, fully commissioned, and ready for the season ahead.

Simba is stored for the winter, inside, and easily viewed.

The interior of the Nonsuch 30 Ultra model is very spacious and unique.  A very functional and easy to use accommodation plan.

Starting aft, one enters the cabin through a low companionway with only 3 steps.  To port is a settee berth that extends slightly under the cockpit area.  There are storage lockers below and a large shelf above the berth.  At the aft bulkhead is a very large hanging locker. Under the berth is a water tank.

To starboard of the companionway is a very spacious "L" shaped settee, which converts to a double berth.  A drop leaf teak table is in the middle, and this drops down very conveniently when the double berth configuration is to be used.  A holding tank and the batteries are located under the settee.

Access to the engine is found behind the companionway steps and a locker door beside the steps allows for a quick inspection of the engine room.

Forward of the port settee is the functional "L" shaped galley.  In the aft section of the counter is a 2 burner Hillerange propane stove with an oven.  A cover over the stove slides conveniently outboard when the stove is to be used.  Next forward is a large ice box which has an Adler Barbour 12 volt refrigeration system.  Outboard of this counter is a large storage locker with sliders.  In the forward section of the galley is a deep stainless steel sink that is served by pressure hot and cold water system.  Above the sink is the control for the "on demand" propane water heater.  Also above is a storage locker with sliders.  Under the sink counter section are 3 drawers and another locker.

The entire main cabin / galley area is extremely spacious.  The cabin sole is beautiful high gloss varnish, and all of the interior teak has a  satin varnish finish.  There are 5 opening ports with curtains, and a hatch over the galley area for excellent ventilation.  Many surfaces are either off while laminates or fiberglass, keeping the cabin light.  Varnished teak ceiling strips along the hull sides provide a warm "feel" to the cabin as well.  For a real feeling of warmth, Simba is equipped with an Espar diesel heating system that provides forced hot air to the main cabin, galley and stateroom.

Opposite the galley is a very spacious head.  There are doors from the main cabin and from the forward stateroom.  In the aft section of the head area is the marine toilet and a vanity sink.  Above the sink is a large mirror. Ventilation is by way of an overhead hatch and an opening port.  To forward within the head area is a separate shower stall, certainly unique in a 30' sailboat.

The stateroom is forward and there is a bi-folding door closing the area from the main cabin.  A wide, double berth is to port.  It is low enough for ease of entering, and the Nonsuch 30's beam allows for great berth width.  Forward, next to the berth is a large hanging locker, and there are lockers at the forward end of the berth as well.  A bureau is opposite the berth, to starboard.  In all, a very spacious stateroom with room to change clothes, and enter the head area with a private door.  Ventilation is great too, with a centerline opening port and an overhead hatch.
