DESCRIPTION, ACCOMODATION AND LAYOUT

CALLIOPE is one of the finest quality world capable yachts launched in her size category in the last few years.  She is the second custom yacht built for the same owners and designed by Bill Langan Naval Architects who has a deep history of designing elegant, seaworthy and efficient yachts both Sail and Power.   The design brief was for a powerful looking yacht that had great sea keeping abilities and range.  With a 15 knot speed target and using a single chine “V” bottom design the result was the best of all options for performance and stability.   CALLIOPE is fitted with “at rest” stabilization and allows a range of 1950 miles at 13 knots while increasing the range to 4400 miles at economical 10 knots speeds.   She has exceptional volume for her size given her ample beam as well as a moderate draft and stability.

The interior design and decor was inspired by the Owner and realized by Rhoades Young. The exterior design is timeless, with rugged and refined lines that give CALLIOPE the sophistication of a Yacht and the elegant qualities of a world capable vessel.   Her Dutch pedigree build quality and detailing throughout result from proper design and planning starting with the Owner, his crew and project management by MCM.

Accommodation:

Calliope is a Tri-deck motor yacht with Five (5) double staterooms with the owner’s suite on the main deck forward. She has Superb deck areas for enjoying the elements with an open sundeck, bridge deck aft and foredeck.  She has ample crew accommodations and one of the finest machinery spaces for a yacht of her size allowing better service and maintenance of her systems.  The main Tender is stored forward on the main deck.

Rhoades Young developed a classic ambiance for the interior incorporating French Provence finishes with elegant curves and flowing lines using weathered limed oak wood on the lower and main deck while changing to a more relaxed and nautical teak wood throughout the upper bridge deck.

Main Deck:

Classically designed symmetrical formality defines the main deck areas in the Saloon and dining area and forward into the owner’s suite.   There is a central innovative reverse spiral marble staircase accessing all three decks.

The Owner’s suite is forward and includes a generous full beam stateroom with king sized bed offset to port and settee lounging area to starboard.  The owners’ separate his and her heads are forward with stall showers and marble counters and floors.  The wood is limed oak with soft and elegant finishes in creamy whites and pastel colors.  Large windows port and starboard allows private viewing out.  Satellite HDTV, DVD, and high fidelity Stereo sound system.  Ample his/her dressing area and clothes storage.

The Owner’s office is to starboard aft of the stateroom and is appointed with elegant furnishings: desk, comfortable chairs and built in limed oak cabinetry.

The foyer area has a formal feel with an elegant marble floor to match the staircase and a guest Day Head just aft of the owner’s office.  Access from the foyer through aft to the dining saloon as well as up or down via the staircase to all decks and forward to the crew area through a hidden, discreet door.

The Galley is on Port side opposite the foyer and access from the foyer through the crew access door or from the dining area service door.  Large, well ventilated and lit with large windows, the Galley was designed for ultimate 5 star service and food preparation.  Stainless finish where possible for ease of cleaning.  There is a Chefs area with all commercial equipment and a stewardess area separate for prep and cleaning.  The crew service door is access through the Galley area.

Dining Saloon is partially separated from the Main Saloon or if desired there are Shoji Doors that close to create complete privacy between the dining and main saloon areas.   The dining saloon includes a magnificent oval-round burled table with Duncan-Fife like legs and a classic dental edge centered under a sculptural residential style chandelier.  Eight (8) modern armless chairs surround the dining table with additional chairs for 10 seated dining stored elsewhere.

The Main Saloon is an elegant and comfortable room with limed oak paneling and a subtle Asian decor motif.  The floors are carpeted over hard wood flooring with the carpet being removable to allow for entertaining.  Symmetrical seating with sofas either side and 4 easy chairs and teak French style double doors opening to the aft deck.  Large windows port and starboard make the saloon bright and airy with window treatments for privacy.

The Aft main deck is teaked and has a seating area aft with two (2) large chairs either side and a low cocktail table.  From this area there is access up to the Bridge deck via a comfortable teak covered staircase as well as access aft to starboard for the passarelle and a staircase down to the garage from port side

The transom door opens to form a “beach club” area for water activities and also opens to a room for gym equipment for guest enjoyment with an interior access to the aft deck above.   The passarelle ingeniously articulates out to dock access or down to the open transom door when open.

Lower Deck:

The wood for the staterooms is weathered limed oak which lends a rich life to the interior ambiance.    The four (4) double Guest Accommodations are situated on the lower deck accessed via a marble staircase from the central main deck as well as a discrete service passage from the crew area forward.   All four Guest Staterooms are equipped with Satellite HDTV, DVD and Stereo sound systems. The Guest Accommodations have plenty of clothes storage in drawers and hanging lockers.   Natural light via port lights with blackout screens.  The decor is relaxing and elegant in subdued hues and patterns.  Every effort has been made to give a serene, quiet and relaxing ambiance to the Guest Staterooms.

The main foyer leads down to the lower Guest area landing which allows access to the 4 guest staterooms and the hidden service corridor through to the Crew area.

Guest Staterooms: Two (2) staterooms are located forward both with two (2) ample single berths, ensuite head and shower rooms aft.  Two (2)  Queen staterooms are located aft both with central Queen berth and ensuite head and shower rooms. Great attention was given to reduce sound and vibration in this area.

Crew area forward is quite large for this size vessel and has a large dining settee - crew mess to port with enclosed galley to starboard.  There are four (4) double cabins each ensuite with head and showers.  Two of the crew cabins have berths that can accommodate couples.  The Captain’s cabin is on the Bridge Deck aft of the pilothouse.

The Engine Room is aft of the Guest accommodations with a separate adjoining control room aft.  Very well insulated and vibration dampened to the highest levels - this Engine Room is extremely well fitted out, organized and maintained.  The engineer who was at the yard when the yacht was built had significant input into the layout and systems installations.

Lower equipment room/ “Beach Club” as per above.

Bridge Deck:

The entire Bridge Deck level takes on a different and more relaxed and nautical feel with Teak panel built in cabinetry and woods throughout. The floors are also teak with sisal carpeting and furnishings with an Indonesian styling and furniture.   The overhead center sections are in cream colored raise paneling with inlays in bamboo cane sections to add to the relaxed feel.  Large window and fully retractable teak French doors allow the interior of the sundeck to become one with the exterior aft deck area.

The Bridge Deck sky lounge uses the full beam of the yacht and is impressively voluminous.  The effort was to meld the interior saloon areas with the aft deck areas using retracting folding French teak doors between the areas such that when open there is no clear division between inside and outside.

Two comfortable sofas and three natural reed chairs complimented by Indonesian carved wood tables

Stepping out onto the aft deck area there is a teak seating area to port and a dining table for 8-10 on centerline covered by the upper deck.

The staircase up to the Sundeck is to starboard as well as a staircase down to the Main deck also on starboard aft.

Several (4) teak sunning lounge chairs line the aft section of this deck.

Forward of the Bridge Deck saloon is the main foyer with day head to starboard, captain’s cabin with double berth, desk and ensuite head/shower is to port.

The pilothouse / Bridge is exceptionally well designed with a state of th art glass bridge and includes a ship’s office with retractable panels to allow use in nighttime situations when running and/or privacy.   The bridge has wing doors either side, a large settee aft and two control chairs.

Passage forward from the bridge on deck to the fully teaked for deck area and tender stowage/ bosun’s locker.

Flybridge/Sundeck:

The Sundeck was designed for lounging and relaxation.  No helm controls on this deck.

A large Jacuzzi pool is located forward on this deck allowing visibility over the fore deck and protected by the windscreen.

Two observation seating areas are outboard of the Jacuzzi.

Two large sun pads are aft and outboard of the Jacuzzi.

A large “U” shaped seating area with table and chair is located aft on this deck.

The radar arch is carbon fiber and used to allow shade using canvas attached to the arch.  The communication, TV and radar equipment is fitted on the radar arch which was designed to be removable and shipped in a standard shipping container.  The underside of the arch is also removable allowing access to the wiring and equipment.

CALLIOPE has been enjoyed as a private yacht by the owner on a recently completed world cruise.   The concept and designing of CALLIOPE involved a team of professionals and resulted in a fully custom yacht delivered to exceed the Owner’s expectations.
